We are living in “the gap”. The gap between the day Jesus ascended into Heaven (Acts 1:9) and the day He comes back (Rev. 1:8). This gap is more like a treacherous and creepy crevice in the earth; it is like something that belongs in a scary movie. The foggy hollows are mysterious and misleading as to whether there is safety within it or not. Many times we see no other solution but to live in the gap, usuccessfully navigating our way through the sharp corners and uneven ground. So often, this is what our heart looks like after we are faced with what those hollows really hold: shame, guilt, fear, self-doubt, loneliness, hurt, and so much more that leads us to an identity built on things that only bring pain. But Jesus made us a promise before He ascended… we are not alone. We do not have to carry these things around with us! Instead, He said we are Daughters of the King, we are loved, we are made clean, we are made whole and righteous, we are beautiful, and we are HIS! He paved a way for us that allows us to lay it all down and live a life for Him. This life is sweet, precious, and holy. It is in this Hallowed place that He wishes to grow us. Hope in the Hollow was formed to give young women a safe and comfortable place to get away from these hurts and learn who they are in the eyes of Christ. Our hope is that those who come will journey with Christ from Hollow to Hallow.
The Lord has laid on our hearts four main pillars that rest in Christ as the foundation and center of everything. These pillars are: Prayer, Worship, Identity, and Relationship. They take practice, intentional time and effort to see growth. They are aspects of our lives that take nurturing and we want to help guide young women on how to nurture these precious gifts (or pillars) we have been given by God Himself.
With a focus on Prayer, it is our HOPE that you will learn how to communicate with God, find your own prayer language, and be encouraged to pray with and for others. As a result, daily prayer will become common practice in the quiet of your heart and will seep into your circle of friends and family!
With a focus on Worship, it is our HOPE that you experience the joy and freedom that comes when glory and goodness are pointed in the direction of our very worthy Savior! As a result, the realization of that freedom will take you to new and beautiful heights in the discovery of the cross and His goodness.
With a focus on Identity, it is our HOPE that each time you join us, you are able to lay down a piece of your identity that is a lie from the enemy and pick up a foundational truth about who God says you are. As a result, you will no longer carry lies into every area of your life and your purpose in Christ will become more and more clear.
With a focus on Relationship, it is our HOPE that you will get to know Jesus on a personal level. As a result, you will know that there is no one greater and there is nothing better. You will never feel more loved and cherished than when you are in His presence. Nothing can compare.
There is so much scripture that teaches us about these four foundational pillars but Deuteronomy 7:9 is the verse that began it all for Hope in the Hollow.
Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.
God’s promises regarding prayer, worship, identity, and relationship are for those who love Him and span a thousand generations. These promises were for those that came before us, for us now, and for those who will come after us. What will we do with them?
Hope in the Hollow is not meant to replace your home church or youth group. It is not meant to be a time of high activity and a “who’s who” in who is going to attend. Rather, it is a time for us to be centered on Christ alone and mature in our personal communication, praise, gifts, and ultimately to bond with Him.
